Flapel, you have to start using the character's orignal colors and not recoloring them like in that Rock Lee sig as well as your current. If you can't match the background colors with the character then use colors that compliment the character.. recoloring everything is a bad habit that I am also guilty of doing.

Also try and use some vibrant colors in your next sig.

with anime sigs though if you abstract the bg its tough to color coordinate it ya know
just throwing a gradient map that looks alright on top of it is so much easier
but your right its a bad habit
