Not necessarily a young boy. The last thing that the 2nd did before he went off to battle to die was make Hiruzen the 3rd Hokage. I doubt he would make a young boy Hokage.

Also, the first and second were brothers and I don't think there was much of an age difference between them.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that Madara is about 100-120 years old lol, depending on how old he was when he lost to the first.
