After finishing Death Note I can say the Anime was amazing, right up until the final episode.
SPOILERS
All of that time evading L and finally out witting him, then to do the same with Near and Mello right up until the end. Just to break down and lose it, as if he really was just a psychopathic serial killer like Near said, he remained calm and cool headed the entirety of the Anime and then finally cracked in the final episode. I can deal with his death, that I just about guaranteed before even half way through the first season, but I expected him to go out more gracefully. Almost as if it was his own plan.
All in all Season 1 and his back and forth cat and mouse with L was fantastic. I realize they needed to tie it together and end it, just not the ending I was hoping for. Personally if I was to rate this out of a 10 I'd give it a 9. I still recommend it if you have not seen it, definitely worth a watch!
I wouldnt have ended it that way either, but what do you know, Light was really on the edge between being the good guy or the bad guy. The fact that he is the main character of the anime tends to make you feel sympathy for him, but at the end, he was arguably a dude who's dream was worth sacrificing as many people as it would need, no matter if they were close to him or not. Maybe he just deserved to end like that.
This being said, DN = L for me, so from the point of his death to the end of the anime, it was pretty much a downfall. Near was nice, but even close to what L was, with his personality and everything.
Anyway, very nice anime. Imo, no anime is like Death Note. And I am talking about the style of the anime, not the awesomeness itself. 9/10
I watched Monster, would rate 7/10. Nice but not much action, more of a psychological thing. Ending was nice though.
Same for Code Geass. Watched the first half, never got to watch R2. Never really got into it. Some people are real fans of this though, so maybe you should take a look, you might enjoy.
