it is an open ending that the viewer decides whatever he likes best since nothing is confirmed
and code geass is far from being the best anime (although it is very popular to those that have not watched that much anime just like other mainstream anime)
it is pretty cool and I love rewatching my favorite parts but I wouldn't put it near my top 10

lelouch also takes the emperor's code.
so lelouch completes that contract.
and they live happily ever after.

People who enjoyed code geass are the same people that asked for a recommendation for something close to death note.
