The thing is Big Mam declared that she'd go towards attacking Luffy. No longer the Fishman Island. As for Fishmen Island being his territory. He said he will make it his territory. He just can't yet. Which is why he said what he said.

yes Mugiwara Kaizoku 'accomplishments' and doings will never be exposed to the public. Which is both good and bad. Good because Luffy and them don't give a shit if they get credit for it. Bad because other pirates that don't really know him / aren't even afraid of just 400mil beris will mess with him. Not sure if New World would be scared of 400mil though.
However, if he does defeat Big Mam (who knows how long). It will definitely be a big upset. At the same time, Im curious as to Big Mam's possible connection towards The D Family (possibly, although highly doubtful). It became to the point where she no longer cared for Fishman Island / Candy (maybe she just wanted the candy still). I guess its possible that she was already interested in Luffy from the Great War. Don't know, but I'm excited to see what'll happen now that this long ass weak enemy arc is over!
