I don't think Van Der Dekken is human...

I think he is
he is modeled and named after a real man so its obvious for one to assume he is human

Oda uses names of irl pirates but that doesn't mean he only names humans in the OP world after those pirates. that would be prejudice


e/ it may be possible that he is only part fishman... his grandfather was the one that perished in the sea.. which only begs the question is how? if he was fishman.. i mean if he was fishman he would have surely survived... so i believe he is only part fishman..

So far I think the best prediction given the info we have is either A: flamingo controls Luffy or B: Luffy naturally or accidentally destroys fishman island while trying to defend it.

I'm pulling with option B. Of course none of the above are probably right once Oda is through with it.

Flamingo doesn't strike me as someone who would come in to play this early. He is the strongest shichibukai and from what I've read about him in the past, he seems to be trying to amass some sort of army of strong underlings for a mysterious purpose. He believes in the new age after all.

Agreed. I don't suppose flamingo will be taking a direct part in this arc. At least that's what I'll bet on.
