and even if gildarts was damage he didnt get damaged near as much as natsu
and gildarts is 100x the better mage so even if he was he wouldve been the obvious choice to fight hades

fried is more usefull as a defender instead of an attacker since he can lay traps
and bixlow is pretty useless once his dolls get smashed since he cant put the souls into something else (or can he use a rock to fight for him o.0 )

gildarts would do better then natsu i have to agree with that
but we never actually saw him fight at full power so i have no idea how strong he really is

They see the potential in Natsu and feel that this is the only way for him to progress, they know he can handle the fight if he is pushed to his limit.
If it looks like he is going to die, they jump in and save the day...

also natsu did a fully powerd lightning flame roar against hadas and he didn't really damage him that much.
