Battle of gods and RoF movies happens before the big tournament, and these two movies are currently being "covered" up in the super series, at the moment episode 9 is running and is about battle of gods were goku faces of beerus God of destruction (watch the movie battle of gods before watching the series :) )
So once we've passed bog and RoF the new era will start

And thanks for straightening out the story lines. It's hard for the average Joe to know what is official dragon ball and what's not. I didn't know GT wasn't legit. I knew it wasn't the same creator (I think) but I didn't know it doesn't count per say.
I had also never heard of those movies! :p
As a kid I watched Z through cell and some Androids. I watched parts of dragon ball but it wasn't as interesting to me.
