Overall I think it's really irritating how Goku's relative power level seems so weak comparative to how he was portrayed in DBZ. He just seems less capable than before in terms of ability to rise to a challenge.
The new Super Saiyan transformations are just silly because there really isn't a visual difference in power from say SSJ3 to SSGB. They just say he's stronger than before even though fights look exactly the same as they did from the DBZ Cell Saga and onward.
I kinda disagree with this, Goku is always at his best when it matters, he has been extremely strong throughout the dbs series imo
right now, him losing to his friends, it's classic Goku, always starts fights slow etc, but we all know he'll play the big role in the tournament. My theory is that goku might be just trying to find a good approach to the tournament atm and maybe give his teammates some confidence... but in the end, Goku is the shiz. Always be!
