Rain is formed from evaporated water.  When water evaporates, it leaves the salt behind. 

It's a survival technique if you don't have any fresh drinking water to evaporate your salt water and collect it using a tarp.  It takes more explaining then that alone but that's the basic concept.

yea, 20 episodes to recruit one member, 10 episodes before luffy and the bosses to actually fight, 10 more episodes for the boss, who presumably is defeated, to be actually defeated, 100 episodes for a long drawn out sky arc,....each arc loses its momentum when they prolong it by that much imo

I seriously never payed attention in science and everything which was talking about rain and all that, so yeah I am no expert.

Even then mister ''I know everything'' science class won't get you a single girl, what you learn in life by making your own mistakes will tho.

This is the manga thread. Mainstream anime by definition is drawn out. Just because the anime drags everything out to keep from catching the manga, doesn't mean that One Piece has drawn out arcs.
