buy them in english? i have them as PDFs in english, i hope im not reading something wrong

Yen Press recently began localizing the books so the PDFs you have may be fan translation
I've bought the first 2 they've released so far

and when you start reading 3 and 4 you'll eventualy find a major detail that the anime left out completely

well Caliber could be possible, but they completely excluded the setup for it during the ALO arc
and after Caliber, Mother's Rosairo would be the most likely one

Well, everything after ggo is side stories until alicization, which they won't start. It's gonna be a weird transition to rosario, since that happened before ggo.

Nope it happens after, since it's made clear that Caliber happens before Rosario
the mistake you might be making is that canon in the books got altered by the author so the mention of current floor being 50 during GGO in the books is not canon

Ahh ok nvm. I forgot that kirito didn't go into the alicization arc because of the ggo incident. It was after a while
