its affiliated with romance. when four or more people like the same person. Most harems also have the tag romance if you havent noticed.

But Love Hina isn't the same as Kare Kano.

Love Hina uses the romantic aspects to boost comedy.

Where as Kare Kano is a Romantic story between two people. it also doesn't go on forever.

All I'm saying is if someone ask for a romance anime, a harem isn't the first thing to jump to mind.

Paradise Kiss, Hen, Kare Kano, Princess Tutu; these are romance.

I'd recommend Something like Love Hina or Ranma1/2 to someone who like comedy.
