he changes the properties of his rubber

i assume initially he did it with the heat escaping his body, but as he grows stronger in his DF ability, he should be able to change the rubber properties on will?

its has been stated TOO MANY TIMES that Luffy has PARAMECIA type fruit which changes your body features, such as organs or skin or maybe muscles

its nothing like logia types which turns whole body to the material and perhaps allows you to control it a bit

maybe he can turn into a rubberband himself

he ate the gomu gomu fruit, meaning he is rubber, id go as far as to call him a logia if you're going to make that argument, because his whole body IS rubber
