Nothing at all. Everyone has different systems for scoring their anime
I've noticed though that many people give 9's and 10's to everything they like and refuse to hand out scores below 5 because it makes them feel bad. That kind of makes it hard to tell which ones they really love/hate.
Personally, I try to make use of the whole scale to make it clear which shows I prefer over others.
- 9: The best of the best. If there are any real flaws then they are barely worth mentioning.
- 8: Consistently entertaining/thought-provoking. Among my favourites.
- 6-7: I enjoyed it and found it worth my while. These are what I'll give most shows I like.
- 5: The potential wasn't capitalized on. Had parts I enjoyed but on other times felt tedious.
- 4: Overall a bad show with few positive qualities but still has a little something going for it.
- 2-3: So bad that I'd rather unwatch it. Any positives were far outshined by the awfulness.
Only handed out two 10's (to LotGH and Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei) and no 1's at all so far (have a lot of 2's though).
