yes I understand what your family feels like. I had three nieces before Too. In the last decade (2000-2010) they were like 5-10 year olds and absolutely adorable. At that time they were respectiing me and liked me for who I am. (without judging me for my hobbies and etcetera) Now they all are 15-20 ish and they literally hate me now. (Starting to think like other adults... you see )

Love the collection! I have one starting myself, but having a hard time finding some decent sites/places to purchase from; what would you recommend?

Avoid AliExpress if you plan to collect legit figures, it's almost exclusively bootlegs and overpriced damaged legit figures
I will admit that my scrolls and dakimakuras are from AliExpress - most of them are out of print, so I wouldn't be able to get the legit ones new anyways
Avoid eBay, unless you do some research beforehand to check if that figure has bootlegs - it may look like a great deal, but it may just be a bootleg
I personally have trust issues buying directly from people, but I did get my 1/4 Chitoge from another collector that listed it via MyFigureCollection
I picked up a dozen or so from Amazon and Walmart (surprisingly lol) but you also have to keep in mind that it's mostly resellers listing there too
AmiAmi has been by far my favorite site for both new and preowned figures, though shipping can seem quite expensive
When you take into account that most resellers already factored shipping fees into their total price, the lower base price and expensive shipping actually makes sense
Preowned figures on AmiAmi look almost brand new with A and B rank - if there is anything wrong with the figure, it will probably have a C rank and list the issue, with a heavy discount
I only ever once received a defective figure from AmiAmi (over 200 orders), I made a support ticket about it, they agreed that the figure I received did not match the rank of the listing, and sent me a free replacement
If there were physical stores near me, I'd love to check them out - but I am well aware that most physical stores would likely have insanely marked up prices
Prize figures are a good way to start your collection, you can get a lot of them without having to invest as much compared to scale figures
But that depends of whether you want quality or quantity - however, there are a number of game prize figures that surprisingly look just as good if not better than some scale figures

TL;DR I use AmiAmi
