Well duh.... he literally put a case together with fucking nothing. All Light had to do was keep how he killed a secret and he was pretty much guaranteed victory. They're both pretty fucking good, but conversations like the one with Namikawa, are proof that Light makes hasty mistakes, L does not.

It seems L has pretty wild assumptions sometimes that just happen to be true. It's a bit far fetched to be honest. Although he is a really smart character, not taking that way from him.

Man, you guys really missed the ENTIRE point of season 2. His arrogance was his downfall, and it was a pivotal character development that all led up to it in season 1.

To be so blind to this is for me to question your intelligence. Season 1 was undeniably better and rated a masterpiece. But season 2 was at bare minimum an 8 and totally worth watching.

It was an entire puzzle from season 1 that came tumbling down on Light during season 2.

Jadeoshbogosh put it perfectly, and reading it made me not want to punch this thread in the face.

You're also all dicks for spoiling the show if OP ever reads it.

That would be like if in dbz when gohan decided to study instead of train further, goku also stopped and only studied and worked.

It would go completely against his character and would suck, but I mean honestly how do you stop the never ending string of battles if you don't write the main character to give up on fighting.

Basically they could have done better in season 1 giving him more flaws so that it's more believable in season 2 when he is bested.

^ His flaws were pretty apparent throughout the entirety of the show.... I mean, I could point them out for you if you'd like. The inevitable outcome only happened because Mikami fucked up and didn't follow instructions. Light had no options at that point and had to anoint someone else to proceed with the killings, it's not really his fault that Mikami fucked his entire plan up. ONCE AGAIN, this is just another show of his arrogance. Mikami was the first follower who was handpicked by Light, he didn't have a contingency plan in place if Mikami failed his job. He had already beaten L, the only person he ever considered his rival. He underestimated N/M from the beginning and tried to win by sheer brute force, rather than tact. If you think about it, it's how he dealt with every single person other than L. Every single other obstacle he simply removed in a single sweep and was done with it. He felt he could do the same with N/M and it fucked him.
