You guys watch the live action kenshin movie?? I didn't think it was to bad for a live action adaptation where live actions have failed hard like dragon ball evolution or whatever that shot was called

but thats the thing it's a trick and you only hurt yourself skipping ahead to the prequel (irony?)
100 Episodes watch kenshin get cut to ribbons, trying his best to do the right thing. then see after all that, you finally get to see him flip that blade, and it's perfection. the perfect blood splattered killer you've wanted to see since the first scene you ever saw his scar. You cant just skip ahead, you'll never have that amazing contrast to turn another samurai show into something special. that's why the samurai x prequel episodes leave such an impact. watching them first would ruin this great experience

They aired it here when I was a teenager. Dubbed of course, but still.

Didn't blow my mind. I was watching stuff like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Battle Angel Alita, Fist of the North Star etc back then...

The show felt too kiddy for me. Was overjoyed with the OVA though.

I wish zombie powder took off. that would of been a good series to animate if it made it past 4 volumes..

Never heard of it. A quick look around makes it seem pretty mediocre shonen though.

Wish they'd animate Abara or Vagabond.

i understand you're into the "gritty" and rurouni kenshin gritty is not.
i've always liked shows about people practicing technique and growing stronger. it's a common theme in long term shounens. i find it engrossing, and i think a lot of others feel the same

anyway i just dont think watching the ova first is a good idea, give the show an open minded chance and if you like it the ova is going to be that much better when you finally see it.
if you watch it first then you will be introduced to a completely different kenshin and you'll just always pine for the violent blood splatter you've already seen, but it's not coming.

Dragonball still better than anything new coming out
