I watched H2O: footprints in the sand, it was pretty good, made me feel sad/joyful in the end... I want something like that

I tried angel beats but it was hard to get through the first 3-4 episodes and I haven't finished it yet, should I keep trying?

I also heard clannad was really good, but the artwork for season 1 is a bit of a turn-off for me.

If you don't like the first 4-5 episodes of Angel Beats I really wouldn't finish it since it doesn't really get any better in my opinion. Supposedly almost everyone that loves the anime cried in the last 1 or 2 episodes but I just didn't care for most of the characters.
Very worth watching Clannad and you will easily get used to the art style.

Now for some stuff not mentioned here

One Piece: .......yeah you probably won't cry unless you get invested in the characters and story and after 300+ episodes...but seriously I never thought I would ever feel these emotions for a *SPOILER* boat.
Major - prob won't make you cry but there is a very emotional part early on in the first season
Gurren Lagann - prob won't make you cry but there is an emotional part early on
Gintama - another one you need to be invested in the anime and characters - some very emotional scenes
there are probably a lot I am forgetting

but yea I definitely agree with everyone else on Clannad, Anohana, Kokoro Connect, and Toradora. They all have a lot of emotional parts.

code geass wasnt sad it was just dumb

no he was dead on, code geass was a great big fvck you to the audience and an extreme disappointment

angel beats will make anyone cry but if you cant get through it dont force yourself

shin chan will make you cry (from laughing so hard)

gurren lagann might make you cry for 1-2 scenes (1 early on, 1 after the credits of the last episode)

gintama will also make you cry from laughing so hard but does have true emotional moments

if i think of anything else i will let you know

If h20 is that baseball one where one of the main characters(i think the heroine in this one dies) and you arent only interested in anime(doubtful that you want to read manga but meh). The author for h20 has like 3-5(could be more not sure) mangas that are basically the same thing with the same characters artwork but different story that usually always has a tragedy in it
