I just watched 5 cm/sec and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time recently.

Pretty much just coming here to recommend Toradora and (can't believe I'm saying this) CCS and ATLA... Season ending / final episodes especially, once you're attached to the characters.

But I cannot recommend anything higher than 5 cm/sec.

Also, Clannad/After Story go without saying.

i heard good things about 5cm/sec, but i've never gotten to it
as for toradora i may have watched it i think, if i didnt it was because of the drawing styles (made the girls look wayyyy to young).
