Both the first season and second season are good

the first season is needed for setting up the second season in which it takes a harem gives it a direction and shows what happens after the guy picks the girl

something that is almost never shown in animes so it is unique in that sense

plus the ova's show what would have happened if he picked a diffrent girl

I personally like it alot but it may be overated but if judged by other animes of it's genre it is easily one of if not the best.

I would only say it's over rated on MAL and other sites with lots of new watchers, where everyone thinks its the best.
Most people in this subforum would say its good but not the best, and in general people either love it or hate it so I wouldn't say its over rated

i'm one of the ones who have it very highly rated xD although it might finally be pushed down to #2 in a few weeks after being my #1 for years

Well that's your opinion and I'm sure a lot of other people are the same.
Doesn't mean it's over rated, since it's generally well recieved, it just tends to get higher scores

started reading the novels like 4-5 eps in
and it has kept pretty close to the original content, save for some compressed scenes, addition of side story characters in some scenes (they didn't originally exist in volume 1), and that chapter they skipped
