An Arc is a story within a story. Like for example, let's say a generic MC and his love interest are happily enjoying their normal highschool lives. All of a sudden the love interest is kidnapped and the MC has to save her. The process of him saving her, for however many episodes, is the RESCUE Arc (because he's rescuing her).

So basically an arc is a bunch of episodes in a series that are part of one main or sub objective.
