But I (a japanese person), choose to watch things that aren't in my language because it's nostalgic, or whatever reason you have.

I'm dead serious. I watch everything with the original audio, no matter where the movie/anime is from. If you seriously think it is the same dubbed then you clearly don't have any idea. You can say you like dubs too but they are not the same at all. Dubbing companies change things, wether you like or not but subbers stick to the original text because for example they don't have to worry about lip sync or appealing to a casual viewer(ofc I'm talking about quality groups not something like Hadena). Also the acting is totally different in the two versions.

A lot of the time they completely change the context of what is being said. Which is the main reason why I avoid dubs.

It gets the same exact point across though.

EG: "I'm going to the store"
EG: "I'm going to swing by the store for a bit"

Yeah... No. Not what I was talking about. Americanizing it and changing the context of what is being said are two different things. But I am not going to argue with you. You obviously are a dub expert with the utmost faith that the dubs are completely accurate.

I said I watch probably 65% of anime sub, the rest dub, it makes to difference to me.
Shit, I watch with subs 100% of the time, even if I am watching the English version, I've probably watched 20 anime like that, and I see no major difference between what is being said.

Could you give me an example of when an English version changed the context?

Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are so inaccurate in their english dubbed versions...

and even if they were compleyely accurate, you'd miss on the origina voice acting, which came out exactly how the original director intended it to be. That's why it's always best to see things in their original format... not only animes, movies should be watched in their original language with subtitles aswell.

i think inuyasha was better in subs over dub..i never watched dbz in sub though bc gokus voice was pretty annoying compared to the english voice

And why can't English voice actors do the same? Are they incapable of mimicking emotion like Japanese voice actors do?

it's because they aren't under the original direction, it will never be exactly what it was originally meant to be. Of course there are good non-japanese voice actors, but they won't be under the orders of the orignal staff. Is it possible to enjoy more a dubbed anime or movie? yes, but it won't be exactly what it was originally meant to be.

the girl in the sig is Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim VS The World. The actress is called Mary Elizabeth Winstead iirc
