Just fire a PM to TheFluff. He's a nice guy and will help you. Have you tried updating your computer at http://www.windowsupdate.com ? [Note: You need to use IE for that]
I usually pick "Custom" and then I update everything since "Express" will only get you the "Important" ones.

yah, i get auto update prompts every week or so, dL everything besides the stupid malicious software removal tool. it said i'm already up to date.
i'll pm him later then, tks.

ISO help. I did everything in the Coreavc instructions yet the video and subtitles aren't lining up, and the video is going slower than the sound as well. I made sure that I'm using coreavc by right clicking the video and looking at the filters (which don't show the previous ffd video show decoder), but the subtitles in my shows still don't match the video.

edit: Also my processor is an intel celeron 2.7 ghz processor.

The only solution is to get a 704x400 version or get a new procesor. That processor can't handle HD even with CoreAVC. It's probably due to high resoultion + high bitrate (filesize)

What processor can handle HD?

I'm getting a new laptop soon, so I'm j/w.

Could a intel duocore 2.16 ghz processor handle it?

That should handle it. If not, then with CoreAVC, it'll definitely handle it. I suggest getting a Core 2 Duo laptop instead of a Core Duo. (Core 2 Duo's are more powerful)

Oh ya that's what I meant, it was a core 2 duo my bad. Actually I might be getting a 2.4 ghz core 2 duo extreme, but I'll just have to see ^^. It's gonna run me around $1674.

I think the Core 2 Extreme would be overkill for just playing videos, but it'll do well if you're gaming with it.

Well that's what it comes with, it starts at $1500 for a 1.8 ghz core 2 duo extreme, but I'm going to probably upgrade it to 2.4 since if I have to replace the processor any time down the road it will be a bitch.

Here's an updated list of players that can properly play .mkv's and show softsubs properly on a Macintosh.

Players which can decode soft subtitles properly with proper codecs:
1. Media Player Classic
2. Zoom Player
3. MPlayer
4. QuickTime with Perian

"If you would prefer to use Quicktime player you can use the Perian Quicktime Component which adds support for .mkv's and softsubs. It is available here: http://perian.org/ Perian is for OS 10.4 only."
http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=31445 icon_pointl.gif Read about it here.

Here's a semi-updated review of most media players (QuickTime hasn't been updated with Perian on that review yet):
