They weren't surprise attacks. They both just couldn't react to how fast the attack was. tsunade would have been fine if she didn't use all here chakra on saving the people in the village that she could.

Their attention wasn't focused on naruto. Just because you see it right before you get hit doesn't make it any less of a surprise wink.gif
