What is the deal with Orochimaru?
There is something supercilious about him, there is something busted in his moral compass, but is he really that bad? For a character that was the main antagonist for the first installment of the franchise, there is not much information about his childhood.
The villains have a habit of turning over a new leaf, as there is deeply troubling about this past that works itself out. Perhaps, there was something that about Kabuto and Sasuke that reached beneath that villainous demeanor.
Before it became apparent that Hashirama could break control, Orochimaru could have revealed his intention of ending Sasuke. There is no way Sasuke could stand against the former hokages and Orochimaru.
i had that same feeling... maybe itachi taught orochimaru a lesson when he trapped kabuto in izanami. maybe he showed orochimaru that if orochimaru were to die (in this case he did die), he would want a subordinate that he can be proud of to pass on his legacy (much like how the previous mentors have died).
but then again, there could always be a twist
