SOPA PIPA gives the US the "right" to censor almost any part of the internet be it .ca or anything else.
The only thing that is coming of this is further hatred of the 1% that have everything and the 99% that is now getting raped by this law even further. US specific but does apply elsewhere.

from what i read there are a number of big companies backing it but some of our internet titans along with some level headed congressmen against the bill

likely the 60+ year old congressmen are for the bill while the 40-50 year olds are not because they grew up with internet in its infancy and know what the fuck it is about and what it means to black marker it.
activision is supporting the bill, and the cynical brit brought up a good point. SOPA allows the censorship of content without cause, so activision could lets say.... censor any indie game company that is actually better than their titan CALL OF DUTY series.
