u dont need haki or a devil fruit to be strong
that should pretty much be understood by now (hint zoro)
sure haki can be seen as a strong power boost but for now its only implemented as a tool vs logias

edit: making nonfruit and haki users strong makes it even more epic btw

zoro has haki now..

of abservation.. he lost an eye.. he needs to be able to see whats going on around him..

and with haki of abservation - that's how he knows what order the crew got into to the island.. like he says sanji is #7 and luffy is #9.
