well senpou uses the natural energy around a person.... and wood is a part of nature.. who knows.

i always had an idea that the elder sage animals like the white name the toad etc.. were orginal summons of the so6p but if the 1st learned his sage mode from a tree? iono

you need teachings and guidance from someone of that type to be able to master the sage. I dont think trees can talk and guide you. Oh well, everything can happen

maybe he learned from a wood sage... or a treant lol.

Yeah, it sucks that this kind of became just another mountain-busting story where certain characters reign supreme and previous logic is kind of thrown out the window. Seems as though you're useless in this story now unless you have the Sharingan, Rinnegan, or sage mode. I think it would be awesome if Madara and Hashirama concluded their fight in hand to hand combat.
