Aside from catering to fans' desires, I'm not sure that a reunion between Madara and Hashirama has any merit to the story. It would be awesome, don't get me wrong, but I thought about it and I don't think it would really fit. It seems like it would take Orochimaru way out of his way to bring Hashirama to the battlefield, and he has no interest in the war anyway. Besides, what would a meeting between those 2 actually do for the story anyway? Madara and Hashirama had their final encounter at the Valley of the End, resulting in Madara's defeat. The show has a clear theme of passing down power, legacy, and burdens to the younger generation, and Madara is now Naruto's burden. I'd imagine Hashirama would even say that, too. So as cool as their reunion would be, I don't know that it will happen. This is all assuming of course that the Hokages really aren't going to play much of a role beyond this rendezvous. It would be interesting if they did.
HOWEVER, what they should really show us is the battle between Madara/Hashirama. Wishful thinking here but maybe that battle is actually significant to what Hashirama is about to tell Sasuke and we get flashbacks of it.
Oh, and did anyone besides me remember that other little detail about the edo tensei? Can the second hokage free himself of its control?
well for one....the hokages dont know about the war so upon hearing about it and breaking out of the edo tensei(if its possible too without sealing or being returned to the coffins) to confront madara isnt really far fetched. whether or not kishi writes like that if you think about it from the characters perspective the 1st or even the 2nd thinking they are the only ones capable of stopping madara isnt far fetched. same with minato on obito and again even if its just a conversation and madara with the superior body etc winning wouldnt really diminish anything. either way i really dont see a reason for oro to keep them in their right mind and it not be a probability of the 1st and madara having a convo. i mean black zetsu could move through the earth so the first should have a quick means of travel along with the 4th and 2nd with their spacetime(which technically the 3rd should know seeing as how he knew all jutsu within the leaf, dunno if he knew of them or how to use them though)

He had plenty of opportunities to get the fourth's DNA. I'm not sure that Hashirama and Madara are going to clash there. Hashirama was hailed to be the only one strong enough to defeat Madara but I'm not so sure he can now. Madara has all of his power and the Rinnegan this time around, so a fight between those 2 would probably just undermine Hashirama. Not sure Kishi wants to do that. Who knows, though. Orochimaru could head to the battlefield and summon the 4 of them there to fight. We can't forget that Madara is EVERYONE's enemy. Orochimaru and Sasuke have their own plans that will also be fucked up if Madara succeeds. I think it's possible that Naruto and Sasuke will unite, but only defeat a common enemy. I still think that their fight is going to be the last and most important of the series.
lets not forget that orochimaru tried to summon the 4th when he tried to destroy the leaf so he definitely had the dna well before where we currently are in the story.
