i know using logic is stupid for proving anime physics/logic, but
irl, when your adrenaline hormones are in active, you tend to see more frames per second
normally you see 30 fps, but when your adrenaline hormones kick in you see 10-20 more fps.

lets just say for now (for funsies) that each activated gate doubles the fps they see compounded.
so.. 30^2^2^2^2^2^2^2 for 7 gates.
basically they can see light move.... i have no idea....

imo. i think the fight between the kages were off scale. if the 1st really wanted to fight then he'd use his Dragon wood technique (Madara admits he lost to this and used it himself) on the 4th like he did to defeat the kyubi.
anyways i still think the 1st = strongest and he's a decent explanation

wait i thought he was barred from it from minato due to the huge disadvantage a miss would cause...which is why the sharinghan which can see the future could either avoid misses most of the time or at least give him a chance to counter the counter or defend against the counter

The problem with it was that he couldn't fully see or respond (can't remember which..) the enemy counter attack
