There is no need for the 8 gates to be powered up by anything but itself...why? because we havent seen the 8 gates even once therefore whatever he would do with 8gates+kyuubi power all the recognition would be given to the kyuubis power. by the fact that none of the edo tensei people used the 8 gates in essentially the best possible situation undying unlimited chakra body just screams how powerful the 8 gates should be.

now if he uses 8 gates and is about to die and the kyuubi then lends power to save him with of course something significant result i would be happy....however if he uses 8 gates and fails does nothing of importance and then the kyuubi saves him or extends it and produces a significant result i will slit!

im convinced they are going to do it i am however not convinced of it being amazing...why? well chouji did his little butterfly thing and was like its time to end this war(big words BIG WORDS) he had the confidence etc we could also call it naivety seeing as how he was shot down quickly lol....but gai on the other hand was about to be forced into 8 gates just to save kakashi bee and naruto and he made no such announcement that he would end madara juubi or obito at the same time.

I'd like Naruto and Sasuke's final battle to last a good 12-17 chapters, honestly. It needs to be a game-changing fight between the two strongest people who have ever existed in the series, maybe aside from Rikudo Sennin.

Ehh, maybe I undershot the chapter expectancy. There's going to be a lot of talking with them, so we're looking at more like 25, lol.
