I knew Light was going to get killed. He was the main character, but also a huge villain. You can't just continue the story with him incessantly slaughtering criminals until the end of time. It was a pretty good show, I'd say. It definitely got stale for me after L died. The conflict of Light vs L was very entertaining with all of its twists and turns though. Very well done in that respect. Near and Mello's episodes were good, but nowhere near the quality of the first 26 with L.
