I'm almost completely positive that they do that crap and they make every bit of dialogue as long as possible because it's not in their power to actually think of a decent story in a week's time.

i can see kakashi dyinng protecting obito from some craps then obito will wake up and fight with naruto. Then he too will die...

It does seem likely that at least one of them could die here.

They killed off Jiraiya after he met people from his past. If the series is really repeating, Kakashi might die. But anything is possible, especially since Naruto just saved his ass.
