I was confused for a while about the purpose behind Izanami. Izanagi was introduced by Danzo so that Obito could later use it without it being an arsepull. Yet, with Izanami, all that explaining and all that fanfare was clearly a bit overkill if it was only ever going to be used on Kabuto. This week, however, it struck me - it's going to be used against Obito and Sasuke will be the one to do it.
Obito is running from the truth. He has been for the last twenty years or so (assuming he's about 33 right now). Rin is dead, but he won't accept it. He's working with Madara because, to him, a fake genjutsu Rin is better than admitting she died. Sounds perfect for Izanami, right? Sasuke has seen the jutsu used and, more importantly, he has motive. If it had not been for Obito's attack on Konohagakure sixteen years ago, there wouldn't have been a Coup in the first place. Yet if Sasuke chooses to use Izanami instead of simply killing Obito, that in itself is an act of redemption for both of them.
If Obito is defeated by Izanami, and if Sasuke is the one to do it, wouldn't that be much better than the obvious alternative?
/edit just a copy and paste i came across this is not my own content but i enjoyed it enough to post here
I had the same thought with Izanami. Hopefully whoever Sasuke is going to talk will also join the playground.
Maybe the Snake Sage?
