it just seems as though the crew's training counters smoker and his marines perfectly.
luffy trained specifically to fight logia users. smoker
zoro trained under the greatest swordsman alive. smoker's lieutenant's best talent is her swordsmanship, in which she was already weaker than zoro.

edit: honestly, smoker is the only enemy that keeps popping up, making your argument is the most logical thing to do.
i just think it's a poor choice and don't want it to happen.
i would just much rather see luffy fight against someone who knows how to use haki and is being trained by luffy's grandfather, and who has a mutual respect for luffy.

that said, I don't really mind that you are discussing this, but know that it did take place and that had you read it you would realize that any furthering was really unnecessary

I believe it is necessary to repeat debates as even though it did take place before there were people who weren't here to take place in it and with new opinions coming in it can show people things that they have missed and never thought of. repeats happen all the time in manga forums =P.
