he's just saying its possible however that zetsu dude taking over and not allowing them to meet is just as possible.

Kakashi was so shocked that he began deducing whether or not tobi was obito while in a life or death battle... with the ninja world on the line. that right there suggest to me that kakashi did not glimpse obito or thought him to be alive after the whole rock crushing incident. now when they show how kakashi obtained the MS the "thought" that obito was alive is possible but even then i doubt it even occured to him and he probably just thought due to not being of uchiha body it just took longer for his MS to activate.

wmkjsp mentioned obito telling gai about not remembering faces i would think that this was only the case with people outside of the village. seeing as how gai has never been mistaken about anyone in konoha iirc

im still confused on the MS whether or not the MS guarantees tsukiyomi and black flame with a chance of susano or you get a special ability like shisui/obito. i dont think we have evidence of shisui being able to use any of the 3 madara itachi and sasuke share but if someone does please let me know!

the event takes place w/ ninja of Kirigakure (mist), the only FACTUAL HINT of Madara being outside that cave is through Yagura, the Mizukage of Kirigakure (village of mist) so it HAS to be him either directly being in battle/sending orders to attack Kakashi/Rin knowing Obito deeply cares for them. Kakashi probably got tricked in the mist which is why he was genuinely distraught after Obito mentioned the fact.
