itachi is dead lets get that out of the way his eyes were quite blurry too so he only had a few more uses and even then i think 3 uses of MS was his limit or something. we still dont kno what 8 gates is capable of. rock lee vs sasuke proves speed can take down a sharingan use. ofc itachi is fast in his own right so no idea how many gates would be needed. id also liek to think gai is one of the fastest characters in the manga without the aid of a jutsu. so itachi should be slower than normal gai so gates gai should definitely cause a rock lee vs sasuke moment

gai has immense chakra and stamina i am pretty sure itachi lacks in chakra and stamina not ot mention coughing up blood. and no way its fair to make gai fight the edo tensei itachi

gai clearly is intelligent when it comes to battle(his strategy for the sharingan, his tidbits of knowledge during this war etc) so i am willing to bet normal genjutsu isn't enough for him to lose. black flames hrm i am certain gai with some gates open can be as fast as raikage not to mention sasukes black flame is stated to have surpassed itachis. susano who knows lol wait for itachi to run out of stamina cause he has shit for stamina and those 3 MS techs take a toll.

i do agree with you gai is prolly one of the toughest guys out there in 8 gates mode but i wonder how long it last was it 5 or 6 he used against kisame? all i kno is that tore his muscles to shreds

if it wer realistic id say 1 minute

the final fight was 7 but he was in 6 for the leg work to make it to kisame he used morning peacock then did afternoon tiger. then he spoke to kisame a bit and returned with him to group(i assume at this point he removed it)

he obviously removed it cause the fight was over so no real way to tell the actual duration if necessary. and even after that he was fine during aobas mind probe and when kisame commenced his suicide gai had enough str to pull off a punch. then after kisame was finally dead he opened the scroll and the water prison jutsu was when the pain happened.

the 8 gates have a 1 or 2 healing gates the 2nd i believe is the one named healing and the third is gate of "life" not sure what they do exactly so with that i assume if i had to fight for a while in 8 gates it would be longer than 1minute but who knows

the release of all 8 gates have to be something truly amazing judging by none of the edo tensei were brought back to use it at its pinnacle, an undying body and with unlimited chakra. Not 100% sure about the unlimited chakra as it was madara who stated this and that may be him specifically witht he enchancements or naturally

fun fact kakashi used his shargian to copy the gates tech and kakashi can use them at will also, probably not to the full extent as gai but still its strongly implied kakashi used the gates in the manga ,

kakashi copies it then tries to clime the mountain 1 handed slips opens the gates and throws his self up







So in the end kakashi > gai

well since the 8th gate is death gate i assume it kills you like kakashi said but maybe gai has a trick up his sleeve cuz he was so willing to use it few chapters ago

but i am a believer of kakashi=gai its whoever is on there better day

he only used up to the 7th gate so far .....
