I'm pretty sure it wasn't the last time we saw Zangetsu, it was during the Kenpachi fight when Ichigo goes inside himself. As he leaves, Zangetsu's says something like, "You are in control for now, but if you ever die, I will take over." Hey, I've been wrong before, but at least there was a PRECEDENT for him to turn into the old man, cuz, we've seen that side of Ichigo before, it just never manifested to interact with others like clown/hollow/jackass Ichigo. Now? It's a Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad ripoff of Tesla, seriously. We have run out of character designs! I haven't been this fired up since Kenpachi said "Kendo" instead of "bankai"
