Well, maybe, but I feel like if the series does push on, they'll develop him more. I can't see it happening, off screen he's important, but IMO he really isn't.

Nah I don't find him to be important either. Sure he's the grandson of the 3rd hokage and everything but that doesn't mean jack shit when the son of the 4th Hokage is currently leagues ahead of basically everyone else and next in line to be hokage.
