I was under the impression that Nagato's Rinnegan was originally Madara's Rinnegan. Don't the edos basically come back retaining all of their abilities and memories and whatnot? I thought that was the reason that Madara still had his Rinnegan despite maybe Tobi taking it from him when he died. Nah wouldnt explain it skipping straight ot rinnegan i assumed negato had the right body and tobi prolly created the situations(sorta like aizen with ichigo). Obviously tobi knew of negato as a boy since he said he gave him the rinnegan which negato activated while with jiraiya
uzumakis were cousins of the senju but even so it doesnt mean every senju or uchiha could do it same as how there are ninjas like rock lee(ofc on a larger scale for the senjus or uchiha capable of activating rinnegan)
Hell madara is definitely at the pinnacle of uchiha and you heard how jiraiya mentioned the rinnegan being so rare. itachi and shisui 2 other uchiha who are prolly top 5(from what we know) prolly have no clue about the progression. example would be when negato and itachi were first shown after kabuto's edo tensei they discussed shit and negato was like even with our eye jutsu's or powers(something plural as to say they were 2 separate) neither made a gesture or uttered something to hint they knew it was basically the same eye jutsu
almost certain madara has used sharingan ms and normal techniques with the rinnegan activated
