I think unless something is done about Madara here and now, he'll be a bit of a lasting villain and it might be on Naruto to take him out...it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Naruto still has his hands full with Tobi and then he has to fight Sasuke.

Yes, looks like Itachi does not know the "RELEASE" seal to free himself from Edo Tensei all along, guess Madara had another of his trump cards that he used at the end.

Sad that Itachi didn't know how to do it, he could have freed himself and just stick around longer.

So does this make Madara a free/released Edo Tensei summon that can heal and regenerate forever without being killed? Of course, only way to put him away now is that he gets sealed by someone.

Correct.. which is what I was going to make a post about a while back about. To really fuck with people, Kabuto should of summoned all the edo tensei's, and then killed himself and had one of the edo tensei's revive him
although I guess Itachi would have still stopped him in that case.. or maybe kabuto could have done something drastic like destroyed the cave and escape from them while its down

how to be immortal:

1] you teach the seal to someone
2] suicide
3] let him revive you
4] release the seal

Being immortal isn't all that great when he can't eat, drink, or taste anything - so no more earthly pleasures at all. Everything that he/she consumes turns to ashes and have that constant hunger pangs that strike your stomach and cannot be satiated.

Think Orochimaru cared about eating, drinking, or taste? I'd be willing to bet that he'd give that up if it meant immortality. Though, if he wanted it that badly, WHY THE HELL DID HE NOT JUST ASK HIDAN HOW TO DO IT. He was immortal with that ritual shit. Oro could have just done that.
