pretty sure his insisting that Armstrong take a vacation and that there were "a lot of beauties" or w/e he said and Armstrong immediately "understanding" was a hint that it wasn't her. And the fact that he burned her beyond recognition except for a tiny scratch on a tooth which they made sure to point out later in the episode makes me think it was the 'ol switcheroo and that he knew it was a setup
