Meh. I've played A LOT of online mmos, be it F2P, P2P, or those quirky P2P

F2P games (like planetside, shadowbane)
Shit gets stale real fast nowadays. It was interesting when I was like, 15 and had no other worldly responsibilities. But now it's way too much of a hassle. The only good thing about online games is the players you play with, and I guess if the majority of your friends are online then yeah, you'll feel more attached to that.
MMO's have kinda just lost their magic to me. Not since vanilla WoW have I been enticed by anything really. Warhammer was like depressing, Rift was the same way....the game play was solid but the environments and design was just kinda depressing overall, didn't really 'pop'.
Since I am a hardcore pvper, I tried darkfall, Mortal Online, etc....those games were aight but not very fun for single player experiences, which I like games that can cater to both.
I have also tried 10000 F2P's, including private RO servers, random other korean games etc. They are fun for 5 minutes if you are drunk and LAN'ing with a friend or something.
Games like FF4 and FF6 though, have amazing stories and characters which I will remember for a much longer time than I do endlessly grinding mobs or instances in a typical MMO or F2P like dungeon fighter.
yeah, ill agree memorability is a function of who you played it with, or inherent storyline & characters.
but the rest, not really.
i loved perfect world for example, on the my/sg servers. totally a pk game, no faggotry from GM intervention because onoes i got pked qq - gm's let the players control & dominate the game, was completely provided as is - which was also a main selling point of old battle.net to me.
crying to a gm didn't get you anywhere ingame. you literally had to spend hours upon hours farming for gear, for money, or to spend upwards of 4k usd (my/sg, i think equiv 10k, 12k usd in pwi) to reach a state of adeptful dominance - and then you still had to contend with all the other farmers & 3-4 main warring guilds. like, as a player, you could login and do whatever - with static outcomes from doing .. whatever.
i really dislike pwi, because the gms do bend to player bitching, make up completely backwardsass rules & penalties on pvp servers, and contradict their own rules whenever they feel like it's justifiable to the most ppl.
like banning me for pking too much on a pk server ffs. thanks bros, im totally glad i didnt pick the PVE server with the rest of those fucking carebears.
then you've got gpotato corruption, already covered, really dont wanna bitch about again.
'n the various other companies, of which.. i really cant name any I completely approve of.
ncwest completely dicking over aion.
cubizone had terrible ass customer service, servers, but they didn't fuck with the gameplay at least.
eden has great gameplay - but it remains to be seen if aeria (lol incompetent) will cross the threshold from incompetent to corrupt, or just downright stupid.
but all in all, they have endless replayability. and it's far more fun to me, being able to login and pk the closest 100 fags I see, than to replay an oldass rpg, even if it's ggnostalgia material.
