He diddn't immediately die after he sealed one with a shadow clone.. it wasnt until he sealed orochimaru's arms that he died

yes and that would be nonsense, coz if the clone dies or is kept in genjutsu, will not affect original except his experiences

now we need more clues to eliminate these suggestions to see who he is
