Is it almost caught up with the manga?

I personally think it is better than the original anime. It goes in a much faster pacing for the first 75 episodes and feels overall much better.
There are currently 83 episodes out and episode 75 was the last episode of Greed Island so yes it has gone beyond that arc.

That means episodes 76-83 have been from the next arc. The first 2 episodes of the current arc I was kinda disappointed in the changes they made especially for episode 76 in which they changed some stuff from the manga. But other than that even if the anime has slowed down animating the manga since this has never been animated before they have been doing a fantastic job. There is still a lot of episodes before this arc ends I would guess 40+ episodes easily.

I liked the original more, I still enjoy this one though.

God it's hard to discuss anime without spoiling when you know what's going to happen, haha.

i think the new GI was done pretty well, i'm really impressed with the chimera ant arc so far too. The manga was too slow when i was reading it and i did not enjoy the arc as much as the anime right now.

I think Pokkuru shot him in the head? Idk, might go back and try to find it (might've survived the shot) but I don't feel it actually matters.
