go read aizen's own explanation of his abilities. It affects all 5 senses.

in order to be affected by the hypnosis you have to see it, but after you see it he can use it on all of ur senses. Learn to read.

dude. CASTING it is sight based. But once its casted it can affect ALL senses.

Becuase of this, it is not limited to bending light rays. It is hypnotism.

hypnotism requires you partly unconscious and part conscious... the person being effected is all conscious, just reality is distorted by allowing the person being effected by the shikai to see whatever aizen wants them to see.
