What evidence is there really to believe that a character that was effectively killed at a young age, lost an eye (which is a big blow for a member of the Uchiha), and played only a role in explaining how Kakashi received his Sharingan somehow mixed in the grand scheme of things?
Is it because someone first posted how Tobi is similar to Obito? Or is it simply because he's an Uchiha that a lot of people like, so they are hoping that he still shows up in later manga?

What's the current hypothesis? I haven't heard any decent rumors lately. Although most of them aren't true, anyways.
