The problem with Berserk, is that in the Manga the writer/illustrator Kentaro Miura puts so much detail into every panel it's hard for animators to make it look great in comparison, while still making a profit.

idk if i'd say next level.
there's much better animations, berserk (2016) is just very different.
but Sidonia no Kishi was one of my favorite animes, and many people won't watch it simply because of the animation style.
so clearly i don't let it bother me.
it's kind of weak to let the animation style make your (inferior) mind incapable of appreciating the art of the story.
though, on the opposite side of the coin amazing animation does make a story more enjoyable.

I was also impressed by one of the ninja fights in legend of korra but didn't like the events at that point + tales of zestiria like i said
