To be fair, the ants primarily wanted to cause a massive genocide against humans. they eventually changed because... feels... but after killing hundred thousands of humans.

Netero's actions were justified and Meruem's death wasn't sad.

that's like crying for Hitler's death if at the last second he realized what he was doing was wrong.

I think the way they use sad is more towards "moving/touching"?

Also I guess you can argue he never had the chance to think for himself until the end, comparing it to Hitler is very extreme.
