thats what i meant did danzo have to learn/train it or was he only able to do it becuase the eye was already at such a high level

ps: being smart does help you with genjutsu since you'll understand the jutsu faster and understand how to control it and advance to a higher level at a faster rate
shisui and itachi were both smart and they are by far the best genjutsu users(not sure if danzo learned it or could just do it becuase of sharingan)




ofc being smart helps u learn faster.... but hes saying its the KEY to knowing genjutsu. if u train enough u will learn it. u dont have to be smart

it actually does mean that

you need to be smart enough to understand how you have to control your chakra
if you can't understand that or cant figure it out then you will never be able to use genjutsu or any other hard jutsu

it doesn't require alot of intelligence but it is the key to most jutsu's since you have to figure out how to control them
and ofcourse the smarter you are the faster and more powerfull the jutsu

when it comes to working hard, hes the smartest

even rock lee is super smart

i cant imagine itachi training as hard as rock lee
